I talked last week to one of my cousin's back home in Germany. He's 10 years old.
He asked me what I do now in the UK and how the family is.
So I told him the story, I realised about 3 sentences in that he already lost interest in the conversation.
Fair play to him, we adults are super boring.
After realising he wasn't really listening I dropped a sentence about the growth mindset I've adapted.
As he was only half-listening he asked me if you can buy a growth mindset on Amazon?! 🤣🤣🤣
I told him the bad news that you can't buy a growth mindset on Amazon or online for that matter and that it doesn't come with a side order of chips.
He was gutted. No he wasn't really. He couldn't care less.
But he asked the right question. He asked me what a growth mindset is.
So I tried my best to break it down to the language of a 10-year-old and told him that when he was born nobody gave him a full glass of knowledge or brilliance.
The glass was fairly empty in the beginning to be honest but everything he learned over the years went into this glass.
To fill this glass up further I told him that he has to grow and change his abilities with practice, determination and most importantly with effort.
Now he knows the basics, I am sure he'll turns out to be just awesome.
